Paintings, glasswork arts and photo frames define the statement of your lifestyle and make your house a home. Art pieces can be valuable in both monetary and sentimental level. But when it comes to moving to a new house, you’d definitely want to move with those precious and memorable items. Though it’s advisable to hire an art movers and storage providers, it’s wise to educate yourself with a few important tips to pack, store and move your art pieces to a new place.
Using the right packing material
To pack the small art pieces, small or medium size boxes will work. Make sure the boxes are clean inside and solid at the bottom. Try to utilize used boxes to avoid adding waste to the environment. But if you are packing large pieces or artwork, it’s good to use specialty boxes that you can get with moving supply store, office supply stores or truck rental agency.
If you can’t find specialty boxes, take big used boxes and flatten them. Collect other supplies, like packing paper or linens, soft wrapping material (preferably bubble wrap) and packing tape to accomplish the safe packing.
Packing the art piece
Lay down the brown paper so that the ends of the paper overlap to create an area that’s twice the size of the artwork. Wrap it just like a gift and secure it with packing tapes all around the brown paper to ensure that paper doesn’t move while transporting.
Box it up
If you are successful at managing a specialty box, make sure to seal one end of the box entirely with the packing tape. Now stand the box on the sealed end and slide the wrapped art piece into the box. Ask your friend for help, in the case; you have a hard time boxing it up.
If you’re not using a specialty box, pack it in the flatten boxes and secure with the tape. In this case, it’s good to ask a professional art mover to assist in moving your precious item.
Other tips for moving art pieces:
● For added protection to the corners of paintings and photo frames, buy ready-made cardboard protectors.
● Stack packed pictures inside a wardrobe box and secure them by packing other objects around them.
● On the moving vehicle, place the artwork in a corner where they won’t fall or even shift during the move.
We suggest storing your items in climate control units that you can easily get with reputed Acclaimed Art Movers.
