A lot of people find that the process of moving has proven to be one of the most strenuous tasks a person can encounter. It takes a considerable about of planning and preparation in the weeks leading up to the move. But wait- what happens if you discover that you have to move in just 7 days? The whole moving situation suddenly becomes much more complex. There are still ways to work through the amplified stress, and keep everything in order as you rather quickly transition into a new phase of your life.

The first thing you must remember is that you cannot panic. You should come to terms with the fact that things will not be quite how they should for a little while, but everything will be back to normal eventually. Realizing and accepting this early on will ensure that you keep your emotions in check. If you allow yourself to slip into a state of panic, you are more destined to forget critical things and make things moe complicated.
Before you begin packing, you should make sure you have a place to live. no matter whether you are moving because of a sudden job offer, financial trouble, or more personal reasons, you have to have a place to go first and foremost. You cannot go to the later steps of moving if you have not established a place to go first. If you need some more time before selecting a place of residence, look into temporary hosing or extended-stay hotels. You can keep your items in storage until you find a place, or you can keep all of them with you depending on how many items you have.
Before packing anything up, retrieve and copy all of the documents you will need or may need during the process. These documents might include school records, dental and medical records, copies of your lease agreement or mortgage for your old place. Keep these items on your person at all times so they do not get lost.
Something that will help you drastically both before and after the move is decluttering. This means getting rid of the things you don't need or will never see yourself using again. If you are moving in a pinch, this will make the packing process much easier, while also resulting in a decreased use of packing materials and size of the truck you'll need to move, thus saving you money. You can also get some money in your pocket by selling anything you want to get rid of, o help out a little by donating it. You can save on supplies by doing a bit of looking around. Many online classified forums advertise free boxes, just make sure that they are relatively clean and in good shape to keep your stuff protected. If you are using a moving company, make sure that you are not packing any prohibited items. These items usually include (but are not limited to) chemicals, perishables, explosives or fire starters, live animals, and irreplaceable goods.
